A major challenge in operating airport stores was the lack of visibility into the entire process, from the number of people passing by the store, the number of customers entering, to them stopping in front of the shelves, and making purchases. Operations relied heavily on the "experience and intuition" of on-site staff.

The lack of data to support the factors leading to purchases made it difficult to implement concrete improvement measures.

Solution through implementation

The introduction of AI cameras and sensors made it possible to visualize the purchasing funnel, including foot traffic in front of the store, customer demographics, and behavior in front of shelves.

This led to a shift to a "data-driven" store management system, where measures are continuously implemented and improved based on objective data.

Ultimately, we were able to build a "sales system" where on-site staff could analyze data, think for themselves, and take action.
