Despite its prime location near the station, the store was repeatedly trying out strategies based on experience and intuition without objective data.
POS data only allowed for analysis of existing customers, leaving the number of passersby in front of the store and the effectiveness of advertising unclear, giving the feeling that the store wasn't fully utilizing the potential of its prospective customers.
Furthermore, the simple tools previously tried were inaccurate, and the manual data aggregation burden was also a problem.
Solution through implementation
By using AI cameras to visualize the number of people passing by the store and the number of visitors, we have shifted to data-driven facility management.
We can now numerically verify the differences in customer attraction due to the content of posted materials and events, and we are focusing on discovering "success patterns" that increase the store's entry rate.
Automated data aggregation has reduced the operational burden on staff, and we have realized a regular improvement cycle of hypothesis, execution, and verification based on data.
